Job Description:
As a Junior Security Operations Analyst , you will support enterprise data protection and security operations initiatives by monitoring, analyzing, and responding to information security risks affecting critical business systems and sensitive data. This role focuses on database activity monitoring, data protection processes, threat analysis, policy compliance, and continuous improvement of security operations programs.

The ideal candidate is a motivated and detail-oriented cybersecurity professional who enjoys solving problems, collaborating across teams, and contributing to the advancement of security operations capabilities. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with security, risk management, engineering, and technology teams while supporting the protection of sensitive business and customer information.

Key Responsibilities:

• Monitor and support database activity monitoring processes to identify potential security threats and policy violations.

• Analyze security events, alerts, and operational data to identify risks and suspicious activities.

• Assist in responding to information security incidents and supporting remediation efforts.

• Collaborate with security operations, risk management, and engineering teams to improve security program maturity.

• Support the protection of sensitive data through implementation and monitoring of data security controls.

• Maintain detailed operational documentation, procedures, and tracking records.

• Communicate security risks, findings, and recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Assist in evaluating security processes and identifying opportunities for automation and operational efficiency.

• Build strong working relationships across cross-functional teams to support security initiatives.

• Participate in continuous learning and contribute to ongoing improvements in security operations and data protection practices.

Required Skills, Experiences, Education, and Competencies:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related field.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain security concepts to business and technical audiences.

• Excellent organizational skills and ability to maintain accurate and detailed documentation.

• Ability to build trusted relationships and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

• Strong interest in information security, data protection, and security operations.

• Passion for identifying opportunities to automate manual processes and improve operational efficiency.

• Understanding of information security principles, technologies, and industry best practices.

• Knowledge of data protection concepts including Data Loss Prevention (DLP), encryption, data-at-rest, data-in-motion, structured data, and unstructured data.

• Analytical mindset with experience or interest in event classification, event correlation, and root cause analysis.

• Experience with Python, SQL, PowerShell, or similar scripting and automation technologies is preferred.

• 1+ years of cybersecurity, information security, security operations, or related technical experience is preferred.

• Security certifications such as CISSP, CISA, CIA, Security+, or equivalent credentials are preferred.

The hourly range for roles of this nature are $50.00 to $80.00/hr. Rates are heavily dependent on skills, experience, location, and industry.
